About Us & Our Bows
I'd like to start off by telling you a little bit
about myself and how I got started. I am a happy mom
of a handsome little boy and a precious little girl.
They are both my daily sunshine.
Before children, I worked
in the hectic and stressful computer industry. I
never had time to sit down and do the hobbies that I
love to do, one of which is arts and crafts. Now
that I have an even MORE stressful job as a full time mother, I decided to
make the time to do something that relaxes me, and
that's where hair bows come into play.
My daughter
had a lot of hair ever since she was born. I always
needed to clip back her hair away from her eyes, and
after spending way too much money on bows and
barrettes that just slipped out of her hair, I
discovered the magic of alligator pinch clips! These
were the only types of clips that would stay in my
daughter's hair as she has very straight and fine
hair. I was able to "knock out 2 birds with 1
stone", that is, do my arts and crafts as well as
fill up my daughter's hair accessory drawer. These
bows not only stay in her hair and look great, but
they are also extremely easy to put on her, even
when she's fussy!
This was the birth of my first business venture, "Handmade Hair Bows by Clare".
My inspiration was my beautiful daughter, Katelyn,
to whom I have dedicated a bow to.
As time progresses, our products become better and better, all due to our very loyal customers and their feedback. When I first started my bow business, I relied on hot glue to make my bows. My alligator clips were also not purely "no-slip" either. I am proud to say that since then I have searched far and wide for the highest quality ribbon available and hot glue is used very minimally. All of my bows are hand sewn to keep their integrity and you will usually never see any hot glue at all. The alligator pinch clips that I use are not the flimsy kind that can bend easily - not all alligator clips are created equal. All ribbon ends are heat sealed to prevent fraying. They are now truly "No-Slip" clips as I now add a strip of Velcro to each clip - it works like a charm! I also add a special finishing touch to all of my bows. They are sprayed with a stiffener to help them keep their shape. However, if you do not want them to be sprayed, you can always request it. All of my bows are made to order!
My motivation and the success of "Handmade Hair Bows by Clare" soon inspired my sister-in-law to tap into her creative side. She artistically custom paints
wall letters that will absolutely add that Wow factor to children's rooms. I then started creating a much needed accessory for my bows - Hand Painted Bow Holders. These turned out to be extremely popular and high in demand. Collectively, our
creations add one-of-a-kind decor to any nursery or
child's room. Thus, "Handmade Hair Bows by Clare"
evolved into the present day "My Little Sunshine BoWtique". Please keep visiting our
